Brueghel's Winter

Walter de la Mare

Jagg'd mountain peaks and skies ice-green
Wall in the wild, cold scene below.
Churches, farms, bare copse, the sea
In freezing quiet of winter show;
Where ink-black shapes on fields in flood
Curling, skating, and sliding go.
To left, a gabled tavern; a blaze;
Peasants; a watching child; and lo,
Muffled, mute--beneath naked trees
In sharp perspective set a-row--
Trudge huntsmen, sinister spears aslant,
Dogs snuffling behind them in the snow;
And arrowlike, lean, athwart the air
Swoops into space a crow.

But flame, nor ice, nor piercing rock,
Nor silence, as of a frozen sea,
Nor that slant inward infinite line
Of signboard, bird, and hill, and tree,
Give more than subtle hint of him
Who squandered here life's mystery.

The panting ,Hunters in the Snow by Pieter Brueghel shows a winter scene where three hunters went to hunting with their dogs.The dogs running behind the hunters.Most probably they trying to hunt the birds but they are not successful because the birds start to fly and the hunters start to run behind them and everything was freeze

Persuasive Letter

Dear Editor,
The principal at our school has instituted random locker and backpack/book bag searches to check for knives, markers, and other items that are not allowed in the school. Anyone caught with these items will be immediately suspended.

First, I think it’s a great idea to search random locker and backpack/book bag to check for knives, markers, and other items that are not allowed in the school. This way all students will be more safe in school and they will feel welcome to come in school.For safety purpose i think everybody in school should support this idea and help principal to create a safety environment for all students.

Also Many students think that searching random locker and backpack/book bag are against the privacy and principle should stop them. I agree with them that this is against privacy however they should understand that principal doing this for our safety.She wants to create a safety environment for us not for her self.She want's us to feel safe and welcome in school.

Sincerely,
